Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking a Band 3 Care Support Worker to join the Children’s Continuing Care Team in Wiltshire. The role involves providing in-home care to children with complex medical needs, including shifts across days, nights and evenings.

You will receive full training, work with a skilled colleague, and help maintain accurate care records while following each child’s care plan. A full UK driving license and willingness to travel across Wiltshire and Banes are essential.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 in health or social care or nursery nurse qualification desirable.
  • GCSE in English and Maths.
  • British Sign Language level 1 and Makaton are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Care for children in their own homes, including night, day and evening shifts.
  • Support children with complex medical needs and medical technology in their care.
  • Receive training and work with a colleague while learning new skills.

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in peoples lives? HCRG Care Group is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Band 3 Care Support Worker to join our friendly and supportive, Childrens Continuing Care Team.

In this rewarding role, you will provide designated, highquality care for children with complex medical needs within the community and in their own homes.

This is a part-time role working 27 hours per week, however, we are happy to discuss alternative hours.

Main Responsibilities

Being part of the childrens continuing care teamwill involve -

  • Caring for children in their own homes, this will involve waking night shifts, day shifts and evening shifts, where you will be required to look after and respond to different health needs whilst parents get some sleep and rest.
  • Being confident to look after children who have complex health needs and require medical technology such as ventilators, feeding tubes, and oxygen.
  • You will receive full training in all aspects of a childs care and will work with a trained colleague whilst you are learning these new skills, which are reviewed regularly.
  • Keeping accurate records of the care you provide.
  • Communicating effectively and professionally with children and families in our care.
  • Working to and providing care in line with the childs care plan.
  • Recognising when a childs health is deteriorating and following the advice and actions in the care plan.

The Ideal candidate will have

Essential:

  • Understanding the impact of providing/receiving care in the home for children with complex medical needs and their families
  • Ability to participate in training of new staff in a variety of settings, including theory training, and training within family homes.
  • Full UK driving license and use of a car.
  • Willingness to travel across the whole of Wiltshire and Banes as required.
  • Flexible and reliable.
  • Willingness to work towards experienced to teach part of Competency Framework.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to relate to children.
  • Adaptable and motivated.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Trustworthy.
  • Caring, patient and observant.
  • Ability to learn theoretical/practical skills.
  • NVQ 3 in health or social care or recognized nursery nurse qualification.
  • GCSE in Moths and English.
  • British Sign Language level 1.
  • Makaton.
  • Experience of relevant clinical procedures and technology dependence.
  • Minimum of 1yr experience working with children with complex health needs.
  • Minimum of 1yr working with children in other setting, e.g. nursery, respite service.
  • Recognise own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Recognise own needs for support and development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the impact of providing care for children with complex medical needs, the ability to train new staff, and must hold a full UK driving license. Qualifications such as an NVQ 3 in health or social care, experience with relevant clinical procedures, British Sign Language level 1, and experience working with children are desirable.
