Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant on Grange Ward (formerly Churchill ward). You will support registered nurses in delivering patient care and maintain compassionate, patient-centered help.

You will undertake training, work internal rotation across early, late and night shifts, and be expected to carry out duties under supervision once trained. The post requires initiative and reliable teamwork in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Support and assist in delivery of patient care under supervision
• Communicate with patients to match understanding
• Assist with meals and beverages
• Participate in admission process as directed
• Record vitals and report abnormalities

Responsibilities

• Assist the registered nurse / professional in the delivery of patient care.
• Communicate with patients, in such a way, that respects and takes into account the patient’s level of understanding.
• Assist with the preparation and delivery of meals and beverages, assisting patients as requested.
• Participate in the admission process of patients as directed by the registered nurse.
• Communicate effectively with patients / carers to ensure patients are kept well informed of any changes or delays to appointments / investigations.
• Be responsible for undertaking and recording blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, urine analysis, weight, height, reporting any abnormalities to the nurse / professional in charge.
