Job Role:

This particular role is based within a hospital in Northampton in the Theatre unit.

The Healthcare Assistant will be expected to help and assist the Nurses with day-to-day routines including personal care and feeding.

The Healthcare Assistants must have at least 6 months experience in completing observations that are essential, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and ECGs.

Healthcare Assistants help with the day-to-day care of patients, either in hospitals, homes, or in patients' own homes.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you would work under the supervision of nursing staff along with other Healthcare Assistants.

Your duties could include:

• Assist patients in the room and ward
• Liaise with patients and family, reporting any queries and issues to nurses
• Help patients with drinking and eating
• Assist in patient hygiene and elimination procedures
• Support nurses and doctors when needed
• Perform observations such as temperature and pulse

Your daily work may include using mobility aids and equipment to help lift and move patients. In hospitals, you may also escort patients between departments. With experience, you may participate in induction training for new healthcare assistants.
