Job summary

Samworth Brothers is hiring a Shift Production Manager to oversee bakery performance, coordinating people, resources and activities to deliver safe, efficient, on-time and profitable production. You will lead by example, drive continuous improvement, and work with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

The role follows a shift pattern of 4-on/4-off, with rotating days and nights from early morning to late evening.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Production Manager or equivalent leadership role within food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality Management Systems and HACCP.
• Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Track record of delivering continuous improvement and operational performance gains.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret operational and financial data.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading change and building high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop operational teams to create a high-performance culture.
• Drive operational excellence across safety, quality, service, cost and people performance.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Food Safety and Quality standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Technical, Finance, HR and other key stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
• Use operational and financial data to identify trends, improve efficiency and increase profitability.
• Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives and deliver measurable business benefits.
• Manage labour planning, succession planning, recruitment, retention and colleague development.
• Support audits and ensure the site remains inspection-ready at all times.
