9 Market Place, Macclesfield, SK10 1EB, UNITED KINGDOM
At Flour Water Salt, we’re passionate about creating exceptional baked goods for our café, wholesale partners and local community. We’re a busy, hands‑on bakery where quality, craft and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.
We believe great baking comes from a combination of good ingredients, attention to detail, curiosity and a team that takes pride in what they make. We’re looking for a passionate Bakery Assistant to join us, someone who enjoys practical work, wants to learn and is excited by the opportunity to develop their skills in a professional bakery environment.
As a Bakery Assistant, you’ll work across both our pastry and bread kitchens, supporting the team in producing the range of products our customers know and love.
A key part of the role will be preparing and producing our range of tray bakes, which are an important part of our offering across retail and wholesale. Alongside this, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in different areas of the bakery, learning from experienced bakers and building your knowledge of both pastry and bread production.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and producing tray bakes and other baked goods to a consistent standard.
Supporting the pastry team with preparation and production, including pastries and viennoiserie.
Assisting the bread team with different stages of bread production, from mixing and shaping through to finishing.
Following recipes and instructions carefully, developing an understanding of ingredients, techniques and production processes.
Helping prepare, package and organise wholesale orders accurately and efficiently.
Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised, following food safety and hygiene standards.
Supporting stock rotation, labelling and waste reduction.
Working alongside the wider team to keep production running smoothly and meet daily deadlines.
Being willing to get involved wherever needed and taking a proactive approach to learning new skills.
This is a varied, practical role where no two days are necessarily the same. You won’t be expected to know everything from the start. What matters is that you’re keen to learn, willing to get stuck in and take pride in the work you do.
We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in baking who wants to develop their skills and experience within a professional bakery.
You’ll ideally have:
A passion for baking and an interest in learning more about both bread and pastry.
Some experience in a bakery, kitchen or food production environment, although enthusiasm and the right attitude are just as important.
Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality products consistently.
The ability to work at pace, stay organised and follow recipes and instructions.
A positive, practical approach and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of bakery production.
Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work well as part of a close knit team.
An openness to feedback and a genuine desire to learn from more experienced colleagues.
Previous pastry, bread making or lamination experience would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential. We’re much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, a passion for good food and the motivation to develop their skills.
This is a four day per week role, totalling 36 hours.
We offer a varied working pattern, with flexibility needed across the week to support the needs of the bakery.
While we aim to plan schedules in advance, the role may include weekend shifts and additional flexibility during particularly busy periods or events.
If you love baking, enjoy hands‑on work and want to build your skills in a professional bakery, we’d love to hear from you.
Whether you already have some kitchen experience or are looking for the right environment to take your baking further, Flour Water Salt could be the place for you to grow.
