Job summary

Octopus Money is hiring a Tech Lead for a flagship backend-focused role within our full-stack squad. You’ll bridge technical strategy and execution, guiding a small team of frontend and backend developers while still writing code 60% of the time.

You will mentor, shape engineering practices, and drive delivery with Product and Design partners. The role offers a hybrid work setup in the UK with a competitive base salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development with a backend focus; Go preferred.
• 1+ year of experience leading engineering teams.
• Experience architecting scalable systems.
• Experience integrating with external APIs and services.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
• Line manage a full-stack team (2 frontend, 2 backend).
• Collaborate with Product and Design to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Drive project execution from conception to delivery and manage milestones.
• Oversee code reviews, enforce best practices and quality.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and stay updated on tech trends.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
