Client Server in Cirencester is seeking a Backend Software Engineer (Python) to design and build greenfield data-centric services that monitor Arctic ice flows and related data for clients in government, defence and energy.
You will own backend features end-to-end, work with geospatial processing, and apply AI tools like Claude in daily workflows within a fast-growing startup environment offering equity.

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on Backend Software Engineer role at a well funded start-up developing an AI powered intelligence platform that transforms satellite imagery and scientific data into actionable insights about the Arctic. Combining cutting edge machine learning with physics based modelling, the team is tackling problems with real-world impact on climate, infrastructure and global decision-making (please note this is used for Defence clients as well as environmental).
As a Backend Software Engineer you will design and develop Greenfield, data centric applications that monitor artic ice flows and various other data points for clients within governments, defence, energy exploration and conservation. You'll focus on Python backend services, taking ownership of projects and working end-to-end from ideation through to production of new features and applications.
You’ll be based in a beautiful Cotswolds (near Cirencester) office, with stunning views and a range of facilities including free parking onsite (not commutable on public transport) two days a week with flexibility to work from home the other three days.
