Job summary

ARQ is hiring a Backend Engineer in the Greater London area to design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems powering our fintech products. You’ll work with a talented team to build solutions that drive financial inclusion and global money movement.

You’ll contribute to greenfield work and improve existing systems, with a stack based on Java, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL, embracing TDD and CI/CD for quality and speed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Fluent English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Demonstrable backend experience with scalable systems.
• Track record building products used by millions in fast-growing startups.

Responsibilities

• Greenfield development and ongoing improvement of existing systems.
• Build REST APIs, engineer microservices and scale treasury/transactions systems.
• Work with Java backend, PostgreSQL and Spring Boot stack for reliable delivery.
• Adopt clean code, maintenance focus, test-driven and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver fintech features.
