Job summary

InvestEngine Limited, a London-based fintech, is seeking a Middle Backend Developer to join the Backoffice team. You will design and implement backend services, APIs, and scalable systems in Python/Django, collaborating across Product, Compliance, and Business teams.

You’ll own tasks, drive technical decisions, and help automate back-office processes in a remote-first environment. You’ll work with MySQL, Redis, and AWS, contributing to performance improvements and reliable services while growing

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python skills and Django knowledge.
• Relational databases, caching, and backend systems understanding.
• Experience with REST APIs and service development.
• Ability to work independently and own tasks.
• Familiar with Git, CI/CD practices, and modern workflows.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• English (B2 level or higher) and fluent Russian.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python 3.11 using Django / DRF.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decisions.
• Work with MySQL and Redis to build reliable and performant systems.
• Build and improve RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Business teams to deliver features and automate back office processes.
• Investigate and resolve production issues and reduce tech debt.
• Follow Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions), and code quality practices.
• Contribute to architectural and tooling improvements.
