Job summary

InvestEngine Limited, a London-based fintech, is seeking a Middle Backend Developer to join the Backoffice team. You will design and implement backend services, APIs, and scalable systems in Python/Django, collaborating across Product, Compliance, and Business teams.

You’ll own tasks, drive technical decisions, and help automate back-office processes in a remote-first environment. You’ll work with MySQL, Redis, and AWS, contributing to performance improvements and reliable services while growing

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python skills and Django knowledge.
• Relational databases, caching, and backend systems understanding.
• Experience with REST APIs and service development.
• Ability to work independently and own tasks.
• Familiar with Git, CI/CD practices, and modern workflows.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• English (B2 level or higher) and fluent Russian.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Middle Backend Developer to join our Backoffice team and help us build and improve the technical foundation that supports our growing business.

You’ll work on backend challenges, develop reliable and scalable services, and collaborate with Product and business teams to bring ideas to life. What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python 3.11 using Django / DRF
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decisions

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong Python skills and good knowledge of Django (or similar frameworks)
• Good understanding of relational databases, caching, and backend systems
• Experience with REST APIs and service development
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and work independently
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices, and modern development workflows
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• English (B2 level or higher) and fluent Russian

Nice to Have

• Experience working in fintech, regulated industries, or internal B2B tools
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and message brokers (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Contributions to open source or personal side projects
