Job summary

Wise London-based engineering team is building a new Account Insights backend to turn millions of transactions into fast, trustworthy insights that customers act on.

You will own end-to-end backend components, working with Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and stream processing to support spending summaries, travel insights, and spend controls. The role emphasizes high-quality code, testing, and collaboration within a growing team.

Qualifications

• Solid backend fundamentals and proficiency in Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience with distributed-systems concepts like asynchronous communication and event streaming.
• Ability to write well-tested, high-quality code and participate in code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Build the backend behind customer-facing insights features (spending summaries, travel insights, budgets, recurring-payments).
• Work with a high-throughput streaming and storage stack (Java/Spring Boot, Kafka) to aggregate activity data and serve it via APIs.
• Improve categorisation accuracy and own components end-to-end, including deployment and on-call rotation.
• Write high-quality tests and clear documentation, and contribute to code quality improvements across the team.
