Job summary

Commerce is seeking a backend-oriented Software Engineer II to join our Data Experience squad. You will design and implement reliable backend services and APIs, work with data models and event-driven flows, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end product experiences.

You will contribute to production health with monitoring, observability, and robust tests, while maintaining a bias for simple, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

3+ years of back-end focused software engineering experience.
Strong SQL and data modeling fundamentals.
Experience building APIs, services, and integrations.
Experience with distributed systems, event-driven flows, caching, retries, rate limits, and production failure modes.
You can work across layers of a system, with backend as primary strength.
You write automated tests and use logs, metrics, dashboards, and tracing to understand production behavior.

Responsibilities

Design and build reliable backend services and APIs that power product workflows.
Work with data models, SQL, and event-driven flows to support product and backend features.
Collaborate across teams including product, design, and infrastructure to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Contribute to production health through monitoring, logging, and runbooks.
