Job summary

Atarus is partnering with a fast-growing AI startup to hire a Backend Engineer. The role involves taking ownership of the systems powering the core product and building from the ground up in an early-stage environment, collaborating closely with founders and senior engineers.

You will design scalable backend services for real-time video and sensor data, ship AI-powered features, and drive architectural direction as the platform scales.

Qualifications

• Backend experience with Go, Python or C++.
• Design scalable APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong systems and software engineering fundamentals.
• Cloud-native environments.
• Startup/scale-up experience or evidence of building from scratch.
• High ownership and product instincts.
• Experience in small engineering teams with founding-level influence.
• Build core systems, not mature infrastructure.
• Collaborate with AI, product and infrastructure teams at scale.
• Experience with real-world AI scale and equity signals.

Responsibilities

• Build and own scalable backend services and APIs.
• Design systems processing real-time video and sensor data.
• Ship AI-powered features including multimodal search and agentic workflows.
• Build integrations between product, ML pipelines and edge devices.
• Solve distributed systems, performance and reliability problems.
• Influence architecture and technical direction as the platform scales.
