Methods Business and Digital Technology seeks talented Backend Developers to join a digital delivery team building secure, scalable services for UK public sector clients. You will design and develop backend services and APIs, work with cloud-native technologies and serverless architectures to deliver robust solutions.

The role focuses on TypeScript, AWS (Lambda) and event-driven architectures, with collaboration across designers, product managers, QA and other engineers in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing backend services and APIs.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing solutions using serverless architecture.
• Strong practical experience with AWS cloud services.
• Strong experience developing and deploying applications using AWS Lambda.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and integration with external or internal services.
• Experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
• Experience using Git and modern software development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality backend services using TypeScript.
• Design and implement solutions using serverless architecture and cloud-native development principles.
• Develop and maintain applications and services using AWS, including AWS Lambda.
• Build secure, scalable and reliable APIs and backend services.
• Translate user and business requirements into reliable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code following modern software engineering practices.
• Work collaboratively with frontend and mobile developers, designers, product managers, QA professionals and other technical specialists within an agile multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews and architectural decision-making.
• Develop automated tests and contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery processes.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, defects, performance problems and production incidents.
• Consider security, accessibility, privacy, resilience, scalability and performance throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Help establish and maintain development standards, patterns and best practices.
• Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture and support colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing where appropriate.
