Job summary

Salt is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and build the core services powering its AI platform. The role focuses on scalable backend systems using Go and Python, delivering robust APIs and data pipelines in a high-growth environment.

The position is primarily office-based at Old Street in London, with occasional work-from-home flexibility. The package includes up to £120k salary and early-stage equity, with challenging problems at scale and strong ownership of features.

Qualifications

• 4-5+ years backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go or Python (or both).
• Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems.
• Cloud experience, ideally AWS; familiarity with Kubernetes, Pulumi or Grafana.
• Strong ownership and communication skills.

A rapidly growing, well-funded AI technology company revolutionising video intelligence through computer vision, machine learning and cloud-native technology.

They're seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to build and scale the core services powering their AI platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Back End services using Golang and Python.
• Build and optimise APIs, databases and large-scale data pipelines.
• Develop reliable distributed systems handling significant traffic and data volumes.
• Improve performance, scalability, observability and infrastructure efficiency.
• Own features end to end, collaborating with ML, Front End and infrastructure engineers.

Requirements

• Strong Back End engineering experience, ideally Go or Python (other languages considered).
• Experience building scalable APIs, databases and distributed systems.
• Cloud experience, ideally AWS; Kubernetes, Pulumi or Grafana advantageous.
• Experience developing production systems at scale.
• Ideally a startup, scale-up or high-growth technology background.
• Strong technical ownership, problem-solving and communication skills.

Experience: 4-5+ years as a guide, with ability valued over tenure.
