  • The Room Manager has a duty of care for all children placed in their care and overall management within the room.
  • The Room Manager is responsible for ensuring all legal and curriculum requirements are met in line with Inspire Montessori Schools policies and procedures, overseeing the management within the room.
  • They are responsible for ensuring all staff prepare and supervise suitable activities to create a stimulating environment that provides high-quality childcare and fosters positive outcomes for children and staff.
  • They must communicate with management regarding activities and progress in the room and coordinate short- and medium-term planning aligned with business needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Good communication skills are essential, including listening, questioning, understanding, and responding to children, young people, and caregivers.
  • The role involves working as part of a multi-agency team, understanding your role and those of other professionals, sharing information timely, and collaborating for the child's safety and well-being.
  • The Room Manager/Third in Charge may need to step into a Deputy Head role during absence due to holiday, training, or sickness.
  • Develop an understanding of occupancy and needs within the rooms, contribute to nursery marketing as agreed by management and Directors.
  • Build positive relationships with partners and develop recommendations from internal and external audits.
  • Support the management team in implementing short- and medium-term plans to meet curriculum requirements.
  • A strong knowledge of child development is essential to meet individual children's needs.
  • Communicate regularly with management about activities and children's progress.
  • Ensure all staff complete necessary tracking of children's development promptly.
  • Create a positive, engaging environment based on Early Years & Montessori principles.
  • Maintain excellent hygiene practices.
Location
Company Description:

Wembley Park Montessori is recruiting an experienced Baby Unit Manager to join their warm, friendly nursery of 36 places.

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week across shifts between 8 am-6 pm, with at least one half-day off weekly.

Salary ranges from £24,960 to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

A typical day includes:

  • Leading and collaborating to ensure smooth nursery operations
  • Caring for children, meeting their personal and hygiene needs
  • Ensuring children are happy and settled
  • Observing, assessing, and planning for individual development
  • Staying updated on legislation and maintaining EYFS and Ofsted compliance
  • Familiarizing with nursery policies and procedures
  • Sharing ideas and involving the team in decision-making
  • Delegating tasks effectively
  • Building partnerships with parents and children
  • Using the nursery app "Blossom Educational" (training provided)
  • Deputizing for managers as needed

Candidate requirements:

  • Level 3 in Childcare or Montessori Diploma is essential
  • Experience leading a room with children under 5 in a nursery setting is essential
  • Experience in a Montessori setting is preferred but not required
  • Positive role model qualities
  • Extensive knowledge of the EYFS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Passionate, motivated, adaptable, and team-oriented
  • Good ICT skills
  • A current, clean DBS certificate is essential for safeguarding reasons
