Job description

TMW are looking for a Planning Director who will be able to partner with our most senior clients to create powerfully effective B2B work. The role will involve driving big ideas that shape and build brands, as well as delivering mid and bottom funnel strategies and programmes including ABM and lead gen campaigns that drive engagement and ultimately behaviour change. We want a well-rounded strategist who can help us to continue our rich vein of integrated creativity and effectiveness through a B2B lens.

We're looking for someone who's highly curious about the world, who thinks differently, and can inspire unexpected creative work. We're a collaborative bunch, and you'll have a key role in working with both clients and colleagues to improve the quality of our output.

The role will be to set up, shape and drive forward a key new client win for us in the B2B tech sector alongside the client service and creative lead on the account. This is a big, exciting win for us and we have the opportunity to create compelling and highly effective work for our UK and European clients. The new planning director will need to be able to hit the ground running, quickly establish strong relationships both internally and externally while establishing the strategic direction for the account.

Please note this is a hybrid role which for us means a mic of working from home and our office in London (Soho).

Responsibilities

  • You'll be the lead planner on our new tech client but with the opportunity to work on pitches as the opportunity arises.
  • In leading accounts, you'll provide direction and support for the planners who work day-to-day on them, along with senior client and cross-agency team leadership.
  • You'll lead the development of new ideas, bringing new thinking and momentum to the agency's clients.
  • You will take, probe and respond to business-as-usual briefs and bigger campaign briefs, craft insight-led creative briefs and collaborate to produce powerful creative work
  • You will understand how to make our work effective and how to analysis what the work has delivered
  • You will inspire and earn the trust of senior level clients
  • You will be a B2B thought leader who contributes to the agency profile
  • You'll mentor fellow planners, identifying opportunities for them to extend their skills, learn how to proactively deal with challenges, and identify opportunities for personal growth
  • You will collaborate with the data, behavioural science, and neuroscience experts in our Human Understanding Lab to ensure our strategic product is insightful, creatively inspiring and scientifically robust


Requirements

Skills

  • Strong integrated B2B experience from brand to demand. We are looking for a Planning Director that has all round B2B experience.
  • Experience in delivering effective behaviour change campaigns
  • Good understanding of effectiveness methodologies
  • Ability to draw on insight and analytics to form a confident and convincing story to influence senior clients and agency peers.
  • Good judge of brands and creative work - knows how to help our creatives get to the very best work through healthy and constructive challenge.
  • Finger on the pulse of the evolving B2B landscape and technology innovations - and an ability to see how these could be used to meet brand objectives
  • Good collaborator and delegator - able to get the best out of peers and clients
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Good facilitation skills - with senior clients and agency partners to achieve positive outcomes
  • Commercially astute, able to see and act on opportunities to grow our influence


Experience

  • Depth and breadth of experience is needed.
  • Experience working for large brands with complex stakeholder management would be advantageous
  • Either a Senior Planner looking for the next step up or already a Planning Director.


Personality

  • Substantive, authoritative and credible - someone who will be able to quickly influence and lead senior clients and partners within the agency.
  • Must enjoy the challenge of being in the spot-light and be fast on their feet
  • Good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Someone who's tuned in to client needs, able to adjust their approach to different groups of people and context, needs - adaptive and flexible style
  • Enjoys collaboration, with no ego
  • Focused on outcomes, high energy, passionate about possibilities
