Job description

STS Aviation Services is hiring a B1 Licenced Engineer in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This role supports complex depot maintenance operations and requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and regulatory knowledge within a Part 145 environment.

If you are an experienced B1 Engineer with Boeing 737NG or P8 Poseidon type ratings and a background in depot-level inspections, this is an opportunity to take a leading role in a high-profile maintenance programme.

Position Overview

Working alongside Senior Engineers and Production Managers, you will supervise an experienced team of mechanical and structures technicians. You will oversee detailed inspections in accordance with PDAMs AMMs, FIMs, and SRMs to ensure the highest technical and regulatory standards are maintained.

This role requires strong technical leadership, oversight of task execution, and continuous communication with programme stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of the depot maintenance schedule.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed inspections in accordance with Boeing aircraft manuals
  • Ensure knowledge and compliance with RA-4807 and RA-4806 requirements for certifying and support staff
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory requirements
  • Track adherence to allocated task card hours for mechanical and structural maintenance and modifications
  • Identify discrepancies between planned and actual hours and analyse root causes
  • Escalate variations to line managers, planners, and programme stakeholders
  • Recommend process improvements to optimise efficiency and resource allocation
  • Support mechanical system testing, validation, and troubleshooting
  • Supervise and mentor junior mechanical and structures personnel
  • Act as a key point of contact for all mechanical and structural aspects of the programme
  • Provide regular progress updates to Senior Engineers and Line Managers, including escalation of technical issues
Skills and Experience
  • CAA or EASA Part 66 B1 Licence
  • Type rated on Boeing 737NG and P8 Poseidon
  • Minimum of 7 years aircraft experience
  • Inspection experience within depot maintenance environments
  • Excellent knowledge of aircraft systems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Eligible to work and live in the United Kingdom
  • Subject to UK Security Vetting

  • Initial and continuation Human Factors training
  • Initial and continuation SFAR Phase 1 and Phase 2 training
  • Initial and continuation EWIS Group 1 and Group 2 training
