Job summary

Datacareers is seeking an Azure DevOps Deployment Consultant for a 1‑month contract (extensions possible) to review and improve an existing Azure DevOps CI/CD environment and to support the internal development team. The role is on site in Milton Keynes, with two days a week in the office.

You should bring strong hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines and release management, plus on‑premise Windows Server/IIS deployments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and pipelines.
• Experience deploying to on-premise Windows Server/IIS.
• Understanding of CI/CD and release management processes.
• Familiarity with SonarQube or similar code quality tools.
• Strong communication and knowledge transfer abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review existing Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and identify performance, reliability and configuration issues.
• Improve and optimise build, release and deployment pipelines.
• Support application deployments from Azure DevOps into predominantly on-premise Windows Server/IIS environments.
• Troubleshoot failed or slow builds and deployments.
• Review existing code analysis and quality-checking processes, including SonarQube.
• Investigate performance issues within SonarQube and its integration with deployment pipelines.
• Improve automation across build, test, release and deployment processes.
• Work closely with development teams to improve deployment practices and release reliability.
• Provide hands-on coaching, knowledge transfer and technical guidance to the existing team.
• Maintain clear technical documentation, deployment procedures and runbooks.

We are looking to recruit an Azure DevOps Deployment Consultant to join an established technology team on an initial 1 month contract with chances for extensions.

This is a hands‑on role focused on reviewing, improving and troubleshooting an existing Azure DevOps CI/CD environment, while also supporting and upskilling the internal development team.

This is not a Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure-focused DevOps role. The environment uses Azure DevOps tooling alongside predominantly on‑premise Windows/IIS application hosting, so we are looking for someone with strong application deployment and release management experience.

Experience Required

• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps.
• Good knowledge of Azure Pipelines, YAML pipelines and release management.
• Experience deploying applications into on‑premise Windows Server and IIS environments.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, application build and deployment processes.
• Experience troubleshooting and improving existing deployment pipelines.
• Experience with SonarQube would be highly desirable, although experience with similar static code analysis or code quality tools will also be considered.
• PowerShell or similar scripting and automation experience would be beneficial.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work closely with developers and upskill internal teams.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked across hybrid environments, combining Azure DevOps tooling with traditional on‑premise application infrastructure rather than purely cloud‑native DevOps environments.
