Job summary
Derbyshire County Council is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to manage a small cloud team and steer the organisation’s cloud migration journey to Microsoft Azure. You will shape cloud strategy, ensure secure, resilient and cost-efficient services, and work with stakeholders to deliver modern, scalable infrastructure.
The role offers leadership in a hybrid environment, with opportunities to influence digital transformation across services for residents and communities in Derbyshire.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Intune).
- Deep knowledge of Azure infrastructure services and cloud platforms.
- Experience leading cloud migration programmes from on-prem to Azure.
- Proven leadership of small technical teams and supplier management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the cloud team and drive the Council's cloud strategy.
- Oversee Azure landing zones, compute, storage and networking.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver migration milestones on time.
- Ensure security, resilience, and cost efficiency of cloud services.
- Support New Ways of Working and digital transformation initiatives.
