Job summary

OCU is seeking a Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to shape and support our Microsoft Azure environment in Preston. You will design, build and secure cloud services, ensuring reliability, scalability and cost efficiency across the enterprise.

You will lead third-line incident resolution, drive automation with IaC (Terraform, Bicep) and collaborate with Service Desk, DevOps, Security and Applications teams to deliver resilient cloud services and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years' experience in Cloud or Infrastructure engineering.
• Proven Microsoft Azure expertise (Entra ID, networking, compute, storage).
• Experience handling major incidents and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of cloud security, governance, compliance.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery, monitoring and service management.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide third-line support for Azure, M365 and infrastructure services.
• Design, build and maintain secure Azure solutions, including networking, compute, storage and Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Manage cloud security, identity and access controls, compliance and resilience.
• Own backup, recovery and disaster recovery services for business continuity.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and New Relic.
• Drive automation and IaC initiatives using Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Monitor service performance, availability and SLAs for high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors and MSPs to support cloud services.
• Produce technical documentation and training materials for wider teams.
