Job summary

TechNET Digital is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer for a permanent role in the Cheltenham area. The role involves hands-on engineering across Azure environments, improving infrastructure, enhancing security, resilience, and governance while supporting cloud migrations and modernisation efforts.

You will work across Azure networking, compute, storage and identity, using IaC and automation with Terraform, Bicep and PowerShell, and you’ll be a genuine hands-on engineer capable of diagnosing

Qualifications

• Strong infrastructure engineering knowledge.

Azure Cloud Engineer

Permanent

Up to £70,000 + benefits

Cheltenham - Hybrid working (2 days per week)

We're working with an established global organisation looking to add an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to its technology team.

This is a hands‑on engineering position for someone who enjoys getting under the bonnet of Azure environments: troubleshooting complex issues, improving existing infrastructure and making cloud services more secure, resilient and manageable.

We're particularly interested in people who started their careers in infrastructure, systems or technical support and have subsequently specialised in Microsoft Azure.

What you'll be doing

You’ll work across an established Azure environment, taking responsibility for a mixture of operational engineering, technical improvement and cloud transformation.

Your work will include supporting and improving Azure infrastructure; troubleshooting complex cloud and connectivity issues; working across Azure networking, compute, storage and identity; strengthening security and governance; supporting migration and modernisation activity; improving monitoring, resilience, backup and recovery; and identifying opportunities to improve performance and cloud expenditure.

You’ll also help the organisation continue developing its use of Infrastructure as Code and automation, using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep and PowerShell.

This isn't a role focused purely on building pipelines or deploying infrastructure through code. We're looking for somebody with strong underlying infrastructure and cloud engineering fundamentals who is equally comfortable diagnosing an existing environment when something isn't working.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally bring strong commercial experience supporting Microsoft Azure in an enterprise environment, backed by solid infrastructure engineering knowledge.

We’d be particularly interested in experience across:

• Azure infrastructure and platform services
• Azure networking - VNets, routing, connectivity, firewalls or similar
• Entra ID / identity and access
• Cloud security and governance
• Troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis
• Azure Monitor or equivalent monitoring tooling
• Backup, recovery and resilience
• Cloud migrations and modernisation
• PowerShell and automation
• Terraform and/or Bicep
• Cloud cost optimisation / FinOps

What's more important is that you're a genuine hands‑on engineer who can investigate unfamiliar technology, work logically through complex problems and take ownership through to resolution.
