Job summary

Saragossa in London is seeking an infrastructure-focused quant platform engineer to manage production Kubernetes at scale on AWS and oversee on-prem Nomad/Consul/Vault stacks. You will upgrade clusters, keep services healthy, and drive cost efficiency.

You will implement IaC with Terraform and Ansible, automate deployments, and help strengthen CI/CD across the estate. A curious mindset about AI applications is a plus.

Join a successful quant hedge fund - no finance experience needed

Your week might start on AWS, where one of the firm's most important services runs on Kubernetes (EKS) at scale. When something misbehaves in production, you'll be the one tracing it back to the root cause and putting it right. Then you might switch to the on-prem side, where you'll own and evolve the HashiCorp stack of Nomad, Consul and Vault, including planning and running the cluster upgrades that keep it healthy.

The bigger picture is about making the platform better, not just keeping it running. You'll look for ways to cut cloud costs and help the platform scale, and you'll help move selected on-prem services across to run natively in AWS. Terraform and Ansible are how you'll get things done, so your infrastructure lives in code and your deployments are repeatable.

You’ll also spend time on the people who use the platform. That means building internal tools and self-service options that save engineers time, and strengthening CI/CD, observability and security across the whole estate. And if you're curious about AI, you'll get to help work out how agents can be put to good use across the business.

What you'll bring

You've run container orchestration in production, ideally Kubernetes at scale, and when a live issue lands you want to dig in and fix it. You know your way around AWS, including how its networking fits together, and you're a strong Linux administrator who is comfortable with DNS, TLS, load balancing and firewalls.

You manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, and you can script your way out of a repetitive task in Bash, Python, Go or something similar. Most importantly, you have good judgement around change. Before you touch production, you've thought through the dependencies and what could be affected.
