Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Platform Engineer to join a technology-driven hedge fund in London. You will work with Portfolio Managers, Quant Researchers and Analysts, supporting AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform and automation tooling to enable front-office capabilities.

The role combines hands-on Linux, cloud engineering and collaboration with business stakeholders to deliver reliable platforms and fast time-to-value for trading teams.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Python scripting for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or another major cloud platform.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerised environments.
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience, ideally Terraform.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Platform, Infrastructure and Engineering teams to enhance reliability and user experience.
• Lead incident resolution and contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling, workflows and platform capabilities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Desirable Experience

• Hedge fund, trading, investment banking or wider financial services experience

• Background in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE or Production Engineering
• Passion for technology, automation and continuous improvement
