Job summary

DCS Recruitment Limited is seeking an Avionic Technician in Bournemouth to join a major aviation organisation. The role involves avionics maintenance, safety compliance, and following approved procedures to maintain aircraft readiness.

The position offers 40 hours per week, a permanent contract, and flexible shift options. A competitive salary of 42,188 per annum plus a 5,000 shift allowance is provided, with opportunities for career development within a dynamic aviation environment.

Qualifications

  • Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance principles.
  • Experience working on pressurised and/or unpressurised aircraft.
  • Previous military or commercial aircraft maintenance experience (desirable).
  • Good technical English, both written and verbal.
  • IT literacy with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and maintenance manuals.
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours to support operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support aircraft maintenance activities under the direction of the supervising Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
  • Carry out aircraft servicing, daily inspections, scheduled maintenance, component replacements, defect rectification and aircraft modifications.
  • Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with approved maintenance data and company procedures.
  • Complete mandatory inspections and aircraft reconfigurations as required.
  • Accurately complete maintenance documentation, worksheets and work cards in a timely manner.
  • Report any additional defects identified during maintenance to the supervising engineer.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and within company authorisation limits.
  • Maintain full compliance with tool control and foreign object debris (FOD) procedures.
  • Take responsibility for company equipment and materials allocated to maintenance tasks.
  • Promote and actively contribute to a strong Safety Management System (SMS) culture.
  • Work safely at all times in accordance with risk assessments, technical instructions and aviation regulations.
  • Support aircraft recovery activities when required.

This position offers flexibility with either:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 4-day working week
  • 5-5-4 shift pattern (shift allowance of 5,000 per annum payable when working the 5-5-4 shift)
The Role

We are currently recruiting for an Avionic Technician to join a well-established aviation organisation supporting aircraft maintenance operations. Reporting to the nominated Crew Chief or Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B2), you will carry out avionics maintenance activities while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance principles.
  • Experience working on pressurised and/or unpressurised aircraft.
  • Previous military or commercial aircraft maintenance experience (desirable).
  • Human Factors awareness.
  • Good technical English, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematics and physics knowledge.
  • IT literacy with experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and maintenance manuals.
  • Good manual dexterity and safe use of aircraft maintenance tools.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours to support operational requirements.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain the required UK security clearance.
