Job Overview

London Gatwick offers an exciting opportunity for a Programme Construction Manager to join our dynamic team at the world's most efficient single-runway airport. Be part of shaping our future by supporting the delivery of a substantial investment plan to develop and enhance our airport infrastructure and facilities.

The Programme Construction Manager will oversee construction activities on multiple major projects within a live operational environment, with project values exceeding £50m. The role involves assisting the Programme Manager in managing these projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Construction Management: Oversee all construction management activities within the assigned Programme.
• Team Development: Lead, manage, motivate, coach, and mentor the Construction Management team, recognizing talent and fostering high-potential staff.
• Safety Engagement: Conduct safety activities such as safety tours, inspections, and reporting to promote a safety-first culture.
• Contractor Review & Compliance: Support reviews of contractor submissions related to Construction, Design & Management (CDM) and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE), ensuring compliance.
• Quality & Commissioning: Review contractor quality and commissioning submissions, ensuring adherence to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and daily reports.
• Work Inspections: Inspect work for compliance with drawings, specifications, standards, and regulations; collaborate on engineering solutions for site queries.
• Contractor Onboarding: Support contractor onboarding processes, including security, logistics, and interface management, balancing operational disruption and project costs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent in construction management or engineering; Chartered Membership preferred.
• Minimum of ten years' experience in construction management on complex infrastructure projects valued over £50m.
• Experience managing multiple projects and understanding construction techniques and quality management.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in construction.
• Experience in project close-out, operational environment management, and problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with NEC contracts is a plus.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
