Job summary

AECOM is seeking experienced civil engineers to join our Aviation Infrastructure team across UK offices, including Birmingham. You will help shape airports of all sizes—from major hubs to greenfield sites—by applying strong civil engineering fundamentals to runway and airfield design in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

You don’t need prior aviation experience to apply; we value transferable civil engineering skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to professional development.

Qualifications

• Has a degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).
• Has experience delivering civil infrastructure projects (aviation experience is welcome but not essential).
• Has an interest in developing a career in aviation infrastructure.
• Enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and working in multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of DMRB or highway civil engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Design airport infrastructure including runways, taxiways, aprons, service roads, drainage, utilities and airfield systems.
• Produce engineering calculations, reports, drawings and technical specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Investigate through site inspections and asset condition surveys to inform investment decisions.
• Organise and take ownership of tasks, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
