Requirements and Responsibilities
The AV & Event Production Manager is accountable for the planning, setup, operation, and oversight of all audiovisual and technical elements for non-football events held at the stadium and associated venues. This role ensures that the AV and Technology requirements of an event are delivered seamlessly. The role includes hands-on technical work, supplier coordination, and close collaboration with internal and external event teams.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of the responsibilities of the role:
- Lead all AV and technical production for non-football events, ensuring seamless execution and excellent client experiences.
- Work closely with the Events, Hospitality, and Commercial teams to understand event requirements and translate them into AV/technical plans.
- Specify, install, operate, and maintain AV equipment including lighting, sound, video, projection, staging, and hybrid/streaming setups.
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers, freelancers, and production partners, ensuring compliance with venue standards and safety regulations.
- Oversee pre-event site inspections, technical rehearsals, live production, and post-event debriefs.
- Maintain and manage AV inventory, ensuring all equipment is functional, up to date, and aligned with modern production standards.
- Support the development of new AV packages and services that enhance commercial offerings.
- Provide on-call support and supervision during events, including evenings and weekends where required.
- Ensure health and safety, risk assessments, and licensing requirements are fully adhered to.
- Work with the wider Tech department to ensure all technical requirements are delivered.
- Handover the AV operation to the matchday team for football events.
- Develop and manage the AV budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining high standards.
- Source and manage third-party suppliers, negotiating contracts for equipment rentals and maintenance
Essential and Desirable
The AV and Event Production Manager must:
- Have proven experience in AV or event production, ideally in a live events, hospitality, or venue environment.
- Strong technical skills in audio, lighting, video systems, and live/hybrid streaming platforms.
- Proven experience managing a team or third-party resources.
- Comfortable managing full event production cycles, including technical planning, on-site delivery, and post-event support.
- Ability to manage multiple events and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
- Flexible with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and matchdays when necessary (though football events are not the focus of this role).
Ideally, AV and Event Production Manager will:
- Experience in large venue or stadium-based event production.
- Knowledge of Dante, Crestron, Q-SYS, or similar AV control platforms.
- Familiarity with digital signage, broadcast feeds, or in-house media networks.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g. AVIXA CTS, PASMA, IPAF, first aid, etc.).
- Understanding of H&S regulations and licensing in live events environments.
