Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an Autopilot Software Engineer in Hampshire for a permanent, primarily on-site role with flexible hybrid working. You will join an agile team building safety-critical flight control software for an autopilot system, contributing from requirements through to on-site testing and real-world validation.

The ideal candidate has embedded C/C++ experience, strong flight mechanics knowledge, and hands-on hardware exposure to support integration and testing across rigs and flight

Qualifications

• Embedded software engineering experience with Embedded C/C++.
• Strong understanding of mechanics of flight and aerospace control systems.
• Ability to develop behavioural/application-level logic.
• Familiarity with Git in an Agile environment and engineering documentation habits.
• Experience with test ecosystems from unit tests to flight testing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to requirements capture, plus concept and feasibility studies.
• Develop safety-critical flight control software to high reliability.
• Support the test ecosystem end-to-end: automated unit testing through to on-site flight testing.
• Maintain and fly the autopilot model aircraft test fleet as required.
• Support issue identification, fault-finding and debugging across software and integrated systems.
