Job summary

MARS Recruitment is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Build Technician for a stealth robotics company in Reading. The role focuses on sub-assembly, build and testing of autonomous vehicle prototypes, working closely with design and hardware teams to drive improvements and shape the lab and workshop space.

Applicants should have an engineering qualification (apprenticeship, BTEC, HNC/HND) and experience in high‑tech electro‑mechanical assembly, including PCB work, soldering, fault‑finding and reading

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (apprenticeship/BTEC/HNC/HND) required.
• Experience in high-tech electro-mechanical assembly, especially with prototypes.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles desirable.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of PCB assembly, soldering, fault-finding and harnessing advised.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform sub-assembly build and testing of autonomous vehicle prototypes.
• Collaborate with design and hardware teams to drive improvements.
• Help develop lab and workshop space for future growth.
• Troubleshoot and fault-find on early-stage prototypes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and quality standards.
