Job summary

Lodestar Space is seeking a Mid-level Avionics hardware engineer to join our multidisciplinary team developing next-generation space systems. You will design, implement, and validate advanced avionics architectures for autonomous platforms across the full lifecycle.

The role offers hands-on hardware work, including PCB bring-up, validation, and integration with mechanical and software teams, with a focus on high-reliability space electronics and EMC/thermal testing.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience delivering complex electronics hardware projects.
• Proven expertise in PCB design, layout, and hardware bring-up/testing.
• Knowledgeable in high-speed interface design and signal integrity analysis.
• Skilled in hardware debugging and fault isolation.
• Experience with lab test equipment including oscilloscopes, DAQs, logic analysers, and power supplies.
• Experience defining board or system-level architecture and leading design reviews.
• Hands-on electrical assembly including soldering, crimping, and harness fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Define and own avionics subsystem architectures.
• Design, layout, bring-up and validation of PCBs for high-speed digital avionics systems.
• Lead design reviews and drive technical decisions across the hardware lifecycle.
• Conduct hardware debugging and system-level testing using lab instrumentation.
• Build, test, and maintain electrical harnesses for flight hardware.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems and software teams for seamless integration.
• Support environmental qualification and verification testing (EMC, vibration, thermal vacuum).
