Job summary

Lodestar is hiring Avionics Software Engineers across three areas: Flight Software, Distributed Middleware, and Embedded Linux. You will own an area and collaborate with autonomy, AI/ML, and hardware teams. Roles are based in the UK, and security checks apply due to national regulations.

Qualifications include a strong C++ background and embedded Linux/RTOS experience. Ideal candidates will work well in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams and have good problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Strong foundation in C++.
• Experience developing software for embedded systems using Linux or RTOS.
• Solid understanding of multi-process architectures and inter-process communication.
• Strong communicator and self-starter; able to work independently and in a collaborative team.
• Demonstrated skills in debugging and performance characterisation.

Responsibilities

• Design deterministic, safety-critical flight software for autonomous spacecraft.
• Develop middleware enabling communication and telemetry across onboard compute systems.
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms for NVIDIA Jetson-based flight computers.
