Job summary

Applied Computing is building Orbital, a security-focused AI platform for energy operations. The first security-focused role owns day-to-day operations, identity and access, endpoints, and network controls, shaping an autonomous security capability end-to-end.

You will run security operations supporting core business, client work, and proprietary testing platforms, and you will shape monitoring gaps into a working posture with engineering and commercial teams.

Qualifications

• Five or more years in security operations with live incident response accountability.
• Hands-on cloud security operations in AWS and Azure.
• Identity and access administration at scale: SSO and privileged access.
• Endpoint/EDR administration across a distributed fleet.
• Vulnerability management with measurable remediation.
• Experience within ISO 27001 or SOC 2 environments; evidence-driven.
• Automation mindset: scripting or IaC; ability to direct agentic tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own alert triage, investigation and end-to-end incident response for a fast-moving AI business.
• Operate an autonomous security operations capability; treat agent output as first line, not verdict.
• Lead detection engineering: logging standards, coverage gaps, false positives reduction.
• Manage joiners/movers/leavers, privileged access, and secrets management.
• Own UK IT service, endpoints, and on-premise/server estate.
• Oversee resilience, continuity, and offshore team coaching.
• Provide evidence for ISO 27001/SOC 2 continuously and client due diligence.
