Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS foundation Trust is recruiting for a Band 5/6 Podiatrist (depending on experience) to work as part of the city-wide Podiatry Service. The post involves autonomous assessment and treatment in clinics and domiciliary settings, with a focus on maintaining independence and mobility through foot care and self-care advice.

The role includes managing a caseload of domiciliary visits, wound and biomechanical assessments, and potential minor surgery referrals.

Responsibilities

• Carry out new patient assessments, formulating treatment plans, maximising one-off or short term episodes of care to improve and resolve foot pathologies prior to planned discharge.
• Autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge of patients.
• Manage a caseload of domiciliary visits.
• Carry out wound assessments and wound care.
• Carry out biomechanical assessments, develop treatment plans and provide interventions, seeking advice from and referring to colleagues with senior roles.
• Proactively promote the use of minor surgery to resolve problematic nail conditions, assessing, referring and providing nail surgery procedures, follow up care and advice.
