Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Diabetic Retinal Screener and Grader (Band 5) to join the Ophthalmology team. You will deliver high-quality screening and grading as part of the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme across Gloucestershire, supporting early detection and prevention of sight loss.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and county-wide clinics, with formal training, development pathways and access to NHS pension

Qualifications

  • Degree in relevant subject, Registered Nursing Qualification or equivalent experience in diabetic eye screening.
  • Completed Level 3 Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Diploma including grading modules.
  • Valid full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high quality screening and grading service as part of the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme for the whole of Gloucestershire against National Standards.
  • Support activities of the department to meet National Quality Standards and other targets.
  • Maintain the department's reputation as an award-winning enterprise under the National Co-ordinator for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
