Job summary

Outsource is seeking an Automotive Technician for a global engineering client in Peterborough. The role focuses on electrification, powertrain, diesel, and hybrid systems within advanced product research and development. It is a 12-month, site-based position requiring a hands-on multidisciplinary technician.

You will support APSD engineers with measurements, part logistics, and testing activities while ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical experience with diagnostics and fault finding.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and problem-solving in a technical context.
• Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in mechanical/electrical disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Support APSD engineers by providing feedback and updates with measurements.
• Coordinate with logistics to obtain parts and ensure specifications are met.
• Conduct build/strip, measure activities on electrification and power systems.
• Perform electrical safety checks including insulation, grounding, Hi-Pot, CANape usage.

About The Role

My global, indsutry leading manufacturing client is seeking a diverse, inclusive, and multi-disciplinary individual that will be responsible for their advanced product research and development sector. This position as an APSD Technician you will be working on their electrification, Powertrain, Diesel and hybrid and power systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting APSD engineers' instructions providing feedback and updates with detailed comments on measurements and issues.
• Working with logistics in obtaining and ordering new parts and components working with Engineering Leads and customers to make sure that they are within our specifications.
• Conduct direct build/strip and measure activities of our electrification, Powertrain, Diesel and hybrid components, with some sub assembly and testing requirements.
• Conduct electrical safety checks to meet regulations and standards; Insulations resistance, ground bonding, Hi-Pot checks, communications using CANape and service tools.

Key Skills

• Completed Modern Apprenticeship / BTEC (Mechanical or Electrical discipline)
• Strong hands-on mechanical and/or electrical technician experience including: Diagnostics, Fault finding, Repair, Rebuild, Build and strip activities
• Health & Safety awareness with strong technical problem-solving and interpretation skills
