Job summary

ALTEN UK is seeking a Systems Engineer with an Electronics background to join an automotive engineering programme. The role focuses on defining system requirements, ensuring traceability, and supporting verification/validation across the full lifecycle.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, driving left- and right-hand V-Cycle activities, with a strong emphasis on requirements management and robust engineering processes.

Qualifications

• Strong industry experience in Electronics Engineering with a proven understanding of electronic systems mandatory.
• Proven experience in Systems Engineering within automotive or other complex engineering sectors.
• Strong background in Requirements Management, including capture, analysis, decomposition and traceability.
• Experience translating customer needs into clear system requirements and specifications (left-hand V-Cycle).
• Experience supporting verification, validation, and testing activities (right-hand V-Cycle).
• Understanding of systems integration and interaction between hardware, software and electronics.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Capture, analyse, and manage system requirements from stakeholder needs through to implementation.
• Maintain requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support system architecture and requirements decomposition activities.
• Engage across the V-Cycle to ensure robust requirements and engineering processes.
• Support verification, validation, and acceptance testing activities.
• Develop and review test plans, specifications, and validation documentation.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, and validation teams to ensure full verification.
• Identify and resolve requirement, integration, and test issues throughout development.
