Job summary

Igloo Ltd in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an experienced Vehicle Strip Fitter to join our busy automotive bodyshop. You will remove body panels, trim and mechanical/electrical components, strip damaged vehicles and refit parts to manufacturer standards throughout the repair process.

You will collaborate with panel beaters, painters and other departments to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and to a high quality.

Qualifications

• Experience as Vehicle Strip Fitter or MET Technician or similar automotive role.
• Good understanding of vehicle body, trim, mechanical and electrical components.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
• Must have own tools.
• Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 points for minor offences.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Accurately remove vehicle components, including body panels, trim, mechanical, and electrical parts.
• Strip damaged vehicles in preparation for repair work.
• Refit components following repair, ensuring vehicles are restored to manufacturer standards.
• Ensure all removed parts are stored safely and correctly identified.
• Work closely with panel beaters, painters, and other bodyshop departments.
• Assist other areas of the workshop when required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
