Job summary

Smart 1 Recruitment Limited is seeking a Quality Engineer for a major automotive manufacturer based in Kings Norton, Birmingham. You will conduct and define Quality Engineering activities, ensuring a robust QMS and working closely with production and engineering teams.

The role involves PPAP submissions, Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Six Sigma-driven improvements, with 3 days at Redditch and 2 days at Kings Norton. Salary up to £42,000 per annum, with a temporary-to-permanent contract path.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and AS9100 standards.
• Hands-on experience with PPAP, Control Plans, and PFMEA.
• Experience writing and maintaining work instructions.
• Professional, reliable, and highly task-orientated.
• Personable with strong communication skills.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System in line with IATF 16949 and AS9100 standards
• Lead and support PPAP completion and submissions
• Develop, review, and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, and related quality documentation
• Write, review, and maintain clear and effective work instructions
• Drive continuous improvement activities using Six Sigma methodologies
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Support internal and external audits and customer quality requirements
• Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to achieve quality objectives
• Promote a strong quality culture throughout the organisation
