Job summary

Apex Resource Management seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer for a six-month contract in Woking, Surrey. This role supports manufacturing quality objectives across series production in a high-performance automotive environment, reporting to the Quality Systems Manager.

The engineer will develop and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, and process documentation, drive quality improvements with cross-functional teams, and lead quality-related production changes to ensure compliance and customer

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and quality systems.
• Experience with control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection standards.
• Experience conducting process audits.
• Understanding of GD&T, drawings, specs.
• Experience with process mapping and system design methods.
• Proven problem-solving skills (8D, DMAIC, PPS, 5 Why, Ishikawa).
• Experience analysing quality data and implementing corrective actions.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP and Lean.
• Strong statistical analysis and data interpretation.
• Stakeholder management and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to drive process optimization and continuous improvement.
• Attention to detail with customer focus.
• Project planning, prioritisation and delivery.
• Proficiency in SAP and CATIA.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve robust Control Plans using PFMEA.
• Create and maintain process documentation for inspection/validation.
• Ensure LEG-SOS requirements are current and aligned to production.
• Support operator training for process changes.
• Develop torque audit plans aligned to build and quality needs.
• Coordinate torque audits across departments.
• Document non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
• Manage Manufacturing Quality-owned QCRs from assignment to closure.
• Use statistics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support Engineering, Quality, Logistics and Launch teams.
• Lead Quality Change Requests with assessment, plan, implement, verify.
• Promote continuous improvement in manufacturing quality.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
