Job summary

Beck Evans is seeking a motivated Management Accountant to join our Sidcup team on a full-time, on-site basis. Reporting to the Directors, you will produce monthly management accounts, perform variance analysis and support profitability improvements across our automotive business.

You will manage budgets, cash flow, VAT returns and group reporting, working closely with site management and Directors to drive robust financial controls and timely decision-making.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' Motor Trade experience.
• Methodical, organised and commercially focused accounting approach.
• Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Strong reconciliation skills, including nominal, bank, debtor and creditor accounts.
• The ability to analyse financial performance, identify variances and recommend improvements to profitability.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
• Knowledge of working capital management, vehicle stock accounting and margin analysis.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement and financial control.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Experience with automotive Dealer Management Systems is desirable. Familiarity with Xero or Sage accounting software would also be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial management information, KPI reports and supporting analysis for the Directors.
• Monitor actual expenditure and performance against budgets, investigating variances and highlighting opportunities to improve profitability.
• Prepare weekly, quarterly and ad hoc profit and cash flow forecasts.
• Support working capital management, including vehicle funding arrangements, loan accounts and cash flow planning.
• Manage VAT returns, NOVA submissions and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure nominal ledger accounts are reconciled regularly, investigating and resolving outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate prepayment, accrual, debtor and creditor control accounts, ensuring suppliers are paid in accordance with agreed terms.
• Maintain fixed asset registers for company vehicles and other assets, including monthly depreciation and finance repayment schedules.
• Analyse vehicle stock, margins and associated costs to support commercial decision-making.
• Assist the Directors and management team with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Support the preparation of statutory year-end accounts and returns, maintaining comprehensive supporting schedules and liaising with external auditors.
• Ensure all financial reporting and accounting deadlines are met, maintaining accurate and timely financial information.
• Attend management meetings and monthly account reviews, providing clear financial insights and recommendations.
• Work closely with site management to monitor performance and support operational and strategic decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and reporting systems as the business continues to grow.
