TipTopJob is seeking an experienced Colourist near Daventry to lead automotive colour development and matching across finishes and materials, including carbon fibre tints. You will work with several departments to deliver bespoke colour solutions with precise, repeatable results in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires deep knowledge of automotive paints and color theory, hands-on experience with solvent and water-based systems, and proficiency with Excel tracking.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on colour development experience.
• Strong knowledge of colour theory, tinting, and formulation for automotive finishes.
• Experience with systems such as Akzo Nobel, Sikkens, PPG, Lechler, Car Systems, and Akzo Nobel colour training (preferred).
• Familiar with water-based and solvent systems and gloss level finishes.
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and tracking systems for paint orders and delivery dates.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Hands-on, collaborative attitude with ability to work independently when required.

Responsabilités

• Develop, match, and adjust bespoke automotive colours using solvent and water-based paint systems.
• Create solid, 2-stage, 3-stage, and specialist colours for bespoke requirements.
• Work with carbon fibre tints, colour samples, and finishes at various gloss levels.
• Troubleshoot colour and finish issues and adjust before approval and production.
• Use colour-matching software and calibrated equipment to ensure accurate finishes.
• Coordinate with paint suppliers and Material Planning for materials and delivery dates.
• Maintain Excel trackers for orders, development status, and supplier requirements.
• Own the paint development budget and track expenditure.
• Provide technical colour and paint support to internal teams and flag delivery risks.
• Follow Technical Data Sheets, COSHH, Health & Safety, and environmental requirements.
