Job summary

Apex Resource Management Ltd, near Daventry, seeks a Paint Development Technician for a long-term, day-shift contract in automotive restoration. You will create, match, and refine automotive paint colours across finishes, support multiple departments with bespoke colour solutions, and ensure top-quality finishes.

The role requires 5+ years in colour development, knowledge of colour theory and tinting, experience with solvent and water-based systems, and strong problem-solving and communication

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on colour development in automotive paints.
• Strong knowledge of colour theory, tinting and formulation.
• Experience with water-based and solvent systems.
• Proficient with colour-matching software and IT data management.

Responsibilities

• Support colour development across departments including matching and developing new shades.
• Work with visual carbon fibre tints and finish samples across gloss levels.
• Investigate colour issues and sign off fixes on-site.
• Develop solid colour ranges (2-stage, 3-stage, Argentum) for client demands.
• Maintain records of all colour processes and input data into systems.
• Use colour-matching software and ensure tools are calibrated.
• Provide colour insights to internal teams and follow global guidelines.
• Lead investigations into colour issues and report findings.
