Job summary

Meridian Business Support is seeking an Automation Technician (Mechatronics) to join our engineering development team. This role focuses on creating, verifying and releasing robot programs for automated cells and supporting new manufacturing equipment.

The ideal candidate will have an HNC or equivalent in engineering, CAD skills, and hands-on experience with robot programming, CMM/CNC processes, and tooling design. The position offers progression and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience or an HNC, or higher, in engineering will be considered.
• Knowledge of tooling, fixture design and manufacturing processes is important.
• Robot programming experience is valuable and CAD reading is expected.

Responsibilities

• Create, verify and release robot programs for automated cells.
• Provide critical help chain for manufacturing to reduce downtime of critical equipment.
• Create, verify and release programs for other programmable manufacturing equipment.
• Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
• Create supporting documentation for automated equipment.
• Support implementation of new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation.

Automation Technician (Mechatronics)

The Opportunity

Experience or an HNC, or higher, in any of the following areas will be considered:

• 6 axis articulated arm Robot programming experience
• Proficient in CNC Milling, CAM an advantage
• Knowledge of automation systems
• CMM Programming experience
• PLC or other logic-based programming experience

In this developmental role you will:

• Create, verify and release robot programs for automated cells
• Provide critical help chain for manufacturing to reduce downtime of critical manufacturing equipment
• Create, verify and release programs for other, programmable manufacturing equipment
• Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes
• Creating supporting documentation for automated equipment
• Support implementation of new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation

Preferred Skills

This is a development role where training will be provided. But any experience, in any of the following areas, would be beneficial and show the transferable skills required to develop in the role:

• Minimum of a HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
• Good understanding of tooling, fixture design and manufacturing processes
• Proficient in CAD with the ability to read engineering drawings
• Robot programming experience
• CMM Programming / metrology
• CNC Milling experience with a desire to move into automation/robotics

Pay and Benefits

• Salary dependent on experience, between £31,502.01 to £40,710.28 per annum (will be increased shortly in line with annual pay review by in the region of 4%)
• 37.5 hours per week, working a Swing Shift weekly rotation (6am-2pm/2pm-10pm), which attracts an additional shift premium of 12.5% of your basic salary.
