Job summary

The role of the Contract Automation QA Engineer:

Quality Assurance is not a final step in our pipeline. QA testers are involved from the start of development through to release and post-deployment analysis. All QA engineers will:

  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps personnel.

  • Align with the principles of continuous testing and test automation.

  • Understand our architecture, infrastructure, and cloud-native patterns.

  • Actively engage in planning, refinement, and delivery cycles.

Core Responsibilities:

Test Automation Development

  • Build and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using approved frameworks.

  • Design tests that are reliable, repeatable, and environment-aware.

  • Ensure tests align with the test pyramid model.

Pipeline and Deployment Integration

  • Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

  • Ensure fast and meaningful test feedback on all pull requests and deployments.

Infrastructure-Aware Testing

  • Create automated tests that verify the behaviour of Azure resources such as Azure Functions, Event Grid, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, and Key Vault.

  • Work with infrastructure-as-code testing strategies (such as for Bicep or Terraform deployments).

Performance and Load Testing

  • Use tools such as Azure Load Testing or JMeter to validate performance under expected load conditions.

  • Analyse and act on telemetry data from Azure Application Insights.

Security and Resilience Testing

  • Contribute to test cases that validate authentication, authorization, data protection, and other compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate with teams responsible for chaos testing or failure injection strategies.

  • QA testers are expected to work as fully embedded members of agile delivery teams. This includes:

    • Participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

    • Collaborating on ticket refinement and testability discussions.

    • Reviewing infrastructure designs and implementation strategies.

    • Coordinating with DevOps to validate monitoring, telemetry, and logging coverage.

Your experience

Given what we expect the role to contribute, the minimum we require is a track record of significant contribution to application quality and release consistency:

  • At least 5 years of software testing experience, at least 3 years with automation.

  • Proven experience in end-to-end application testing, performance, user acceptance and non-functional testing. Also, API testing.

  • Good knowledge of test techniques, methodologies, and strategies – functional and non-functional.

  • Hands on experience in Web test automation framework e.g., Cypress,Playwright, Selenium.

  • Hands on experience in Performance, Load testing with JMeter orK6.

  • Hands on experience in POSTMAN API, Swagger, or another other API client.

  • Excellent programming knowledge in JavaScript and Typescript.

  • Good understand of Git commands and code repositories e.g., Bitbucket, GITHUB, GITLAB.

  • Good understanding of Test Management tools e.g., QMetry, TestRail, QTest.

  • Experience with building and maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
