Job summary
MARCH is seeking a Proposal Engineer to join its Digital team in Reading, with hybrid working and occasional customer-site travel. The role bridges technical engineering with sales, designing automation solutions and compelling proposals for diverse sectors.
You will lead site surveys, develop architecture for PLC/SCADA/HMI, prepare cost estimates and SOWs, and present demonstrations. The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical/Automation and 3+ years in systems integration or automation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in systems integration or automation engineering.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
- Experience with control panel design and industrial protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
- Represent MARCH’s culture and values to clients.
- Understand automation requirements across multiple sectors.
- Conduct site surveys to support proposals.
- Develop fit-for-purpose control system architectures.
- Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and SOWs.
- Deliver client presentations and attend site visits.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure practical solutions.
- Maintain knowledge of automation technologies and vendor platforms.
- Support sales with CRM updates and forecasting.
- Attend industry events and client meetings.
