We are now recruiting for Pool Automation Maintenance Technicians at our Chelmsford Mail Centre, Winsford Way, CHELMSFORD. CM2 5AA site.

Salary: £51,051 per annum, plus night shift allowance. 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. Weekend shift allowances: Saturday (£51) and Sunday (£102) per attendance.

You may be eligible for a welcome bonus of £1,500* (payments are made in installments and subject to terms and conditions).

The successful candidate will cover the Chelmsford Mail Centre shift rotation, with some voluntary flexibility for 24/7 operational needs, including overtime and shift pattern adjustments.

This role is a Pool position, requiring adaptability to cover for other Technicians during their leave or sick leave. You will follow an 8-week shift rota:

• Week 1 - Nights: 22:30 - 06:40 (Mon-Fri), 19:00 - 06:15 (Sat)
• Week 2 - Lates: 14:30 - 22:40 (Mon-Fri)
• Week 3 - Earlies: 06:30 - 14:40 (Mon-Fri), 06:30 - 19:10 (Sat), 08:00 - 20:15 (Sun)
• Week 4 - Off (Mon-Sat), 20:00 - 06:15 (Sun)

The Role

Full-time, 40 hours/week. Responsible for maintaining automation assets through preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Key tasks include:

• Performing maintenance activities
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Assisting the Engineering team, completing reports, fault logs, and data entry
• Diagnosing automation breakdowns and prioritizing repairs
• Monitoring equipment performance and collaborating with operational teams
• Leading Continuous Improvement projects from conception to implementation
• Working independently and as part of a team to achieve goals

About You

You should be a qualified electrical and mechanical engineer (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent), with experience in automation maintenance and a good understanding of Health & Safety legislation. A full UK driving licence is required for occasional site travel.
