Job summary

Royal Mail Engineering seeks an experienced Engineering Maintenance Shift Manager to lead a high-performing team at a state-of-the-art Midlands hub. You will drive maintenance performance, improve asset reliability and implement a world-class maintenance strategy across automated systems.

You will lead safety-focused maintenance planning, develop shift strategies, manage budgets, and coordinate with Production, Engineering and Procurement to schedule shutdowns and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Qualified engineer with electrical and mechanical emphasis.
• Experience leading engineers and supervisors.
• Hands-on PLC, hydraulics/pneumatics and automation.
• Health and safety certifications (NEBOSH or higher).

Responsibilities

• Lead safety culture and ensure compliance across automation assets.
• Develop and execute shift maintenance strategies to meet targets.
• Supervise maintenance technicians and drive high-performance culture.
• Manage shift budgets and allocate resources effectively.
• Lead root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
