Job summary

ATA Recruitment is supporting a global business with a highly automated distribution facility in Magor, South Wales, for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.

You will join a team of experienced engineers on a 4-on 4-off days and nights schedule, working on conveyors, cranes, motors, gearboxes, sensors and PLCs.

The role is 75% preventative maintenance and 25% reactive, with opportunities for career progression and development. Salary around £53,000 including shift allowance.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 2 years' experience working in an automated environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• An understanding of PLCs, ideally Siemens S7.
• A genuine passion for engineering and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across highly automated equipment.
• Responding to reactive breakdowns and carrying out effective fault finding.
• Working across both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Inspecting, cleaning and lubricating mechanical components.
• Diagnosing faults involving motors, sensors, control panels and conveyors.
• Working with chains, sprockets, bearings and gearboxes.
• Carrying out basic PLC diagnostics and checking I/O on Siemens S7 systems.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supporting root cause analysis and helping to prevent repeat failures.
• Working closely with operators to maintain equipment reliability.
