Job summary

Tarmac is seeking an Automation Engineer for our Tunstead site near Buxton to maintain and enhance cement plant control and software systems. You will work under the Head of Electrical and drive safe modification, testing and commissioning of automation solutions.

You will support installation of new equipment, develop SOPs, manage risk assessments and contribute to CAPEX projects, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent
• Extensive experience with plant automation and control systems
• Strong safety and risk assessment experience

Responsibilities

• Maintain cement plant control and software systems to ensure programming integrity
• Safely modify and maintain automation hardware and software with robust testing and commissioning
• Support installation of new plant equipment from concept to operation
• Develop and implement control system SOPs and procedures
• Ensure robust risk assessment processes for control measures
• Support CAPEX projects during commissioning and handover
• Drive continuous improvement across control and software systems
